Both their Farmina N&D as well as their Vet Life Natural diets have been scientifically tested. All Farmina dog food recipes are developed by closely collaborating with the chair of Nutrition and Animal Nutrition of the University of Naples Federico II. It must also be noted that the clinical trials conducted by Farmina are cruelty-free with no animals being tested in labs.
‘N&D’ stands for ‘Natural & Delicious’ this encapsulates their commitment to using natural methods as much as possible. All the food from N&D as well as the Vet Life Farmina pet food is preserved with natural antioxidants. They use tocopherol rich extracts to preserve their food. Farmina also ensures that the ancestral grain used in their food is completely GMO-free.
What goes into N&D?
- The base ingredient in all N&D foods is meat. They use a variety that includes wild boar meat, chicken & eggs, fish, and lamb.
- Animal fats are also a key ingredient as research suggests that they are absorbed better by carnivores. The fat content used here comes from chicken fat and fish oil to supply your pets with Omega-3 fatty acids, EPA, and DHA.
- The vitamins and minerals come from select few veggies and fruit. This includes blackcurrants, blueberries, pomegranates, apples, oranges, spinach, and even carrots. These are chosen based on their nutritive value.
- Carnivores like dogs and cats have evolved to derive their fuel from animal protein and fat rather than carbohydrates. So N&D also has reduced the carb portion of the recipe and only use ancestral grains that are traditionally used in Italy like spelt and oats.
